Orange Flower Water has Adult Situations

Once again 6th@Penn Theatre finds a play that deals with real life obstacles and takes the audience behind the scenes into the private lives of everyday people.

This intense and intimate ninety-minute drama produced by Dale Morris and directed by Jerry Pilato (VISITING MR. GREEN, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS) is "not about amoral sexual perversity in the LaBute or Mamet mold. It’s a view of marriage as a vise grip in which the best one can hope for is some velvet handcuffs. It’s also a brutally honest drama about marriage and infidelity and watching the picture change many colors is quirky, raw and painfully graphic. ORANGE FLOWER WATER contains adult situations and slight nudity. Do not be deceived by the lyrical, gently perfumed title of the play." (Chicago Tribune)

Craig Wright is best known as the Emmy Award-nominated writer for the acclaimed series “Six Feet Under.” His other plays include Recent Tragic Events (Woolly Mammoth, Playwrights Horizons), The Pavilion (City Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Globe Theatre), Main Street (Great American History Theatre), Grace (Wooly Mammoth), Molly’s Delicious (Arden Theatre), and Melissa Arctic (Folger Theatre).

OUR CAST

Jennifer Lee Vernon (Cathy) Jennifer is very excited to be a part of the Orange Flower Water cast. Since moving here from Denver last year, she has enjoyed getting to know new people in the San Diego area. Most recently, she has been seen as Ruth in Vista Broadway's production of Blithe Spirit. Some of her favorite roles include Jessie Mae in Trip to Bountiful and Elizabeth in Laundry and Bourbon. She is grateful to Jerry for the opportunity and, as always, she sends her love to Sean for being her inspiration.

Sean C. Vernon (David) This is Sean's first appearance with 6th@Penn. Recent roles include: Toomey in Biloxi Blues with New Vision Theatre, Ross in Visiting Mr. Green with Vista Broadway Theater and Richard in Hayfever with Moonlight Stage at the Avo. A recent transplant from Denver, recent roles of merit in Colorado include: Roy in Lone Star with Vintage Theatre Company and Harold in K2 with The John Galt Golden Theatre Company. Sean is thankful for this opportunity and to be experiencing a life long dream of living in Southern California with his wife, teammate and "fox hole partner" Jennifer.

Teresa Beckwith (Beth) is thrilled to make her debut at 6th@Penn in Orange Flower Water. She has appeared on several stages in San Diego and has been seen most recently in “The End of Death,” “Trial of the Catonsville Nine,” and “Love, Negotiated.” Teresa is an Acupuncturist and martial artist who has lived and traveled abroad in five continents with aspirations to explore the remaining two. Teresa enjoys writing as well as skiing, fishing, hiking, and most any other outdoors activity. She lives with her husband and three children in Mission Hills.

William Parker Shore (Brad) went to Arizona State University where he graduated with a BA in Theater. While attending school there he was featured in such productions as Neil Simon’s Come Blow Your Horn, School for Scandal, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, and She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith. After graduation he enrolled in the University of Hawaii’s graduate program in Theater where he focused on playwriting and acting. He was fortunate enough to land a part in a “Hawaiian version” of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, as well as his original Moment of Truth – which he also directed.

Upon arriving in San Diego, William put the theater on the backburner while he pursued other areas of his life. After 8 years away, however, the theater’s call grew too loud to ignore. In 2006 he returned to the stage in readings of Death in Grenada and Peace. He is proud to make his 6th and Penn debut in Orange Flower Water.
